Palembang air quality reaches unhealthy levels due to forest fires

Air quality in Palembang, South Sumatra, has reached unhealthy levels due to smoke from forest and land fires (karhutla) across the province. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that PM2.5 concentrations at the Musi 2 station reached a peak of 235.6 µg/m³, placing the air quality in the ‘very unhealthy’ category.

While concentrations have since decreased to 68.6 µg/m³, officials advise residents to limit outdoor activities, particularly those with respiratory issues, and to use masks and goggles if they must go outside.
