Palembang gas stations continue to serve modified motorcycles for Pertalite
Despite official bans issued by Pertamina regarding the filling of Pertalite fuel by motorcycles with large or modified tanks, fuel resellers continue to bypass regulations at gas stations in Palembang.
At the Km 10 SPBU Simpang Bandara Lama on Jl Kolonel H Barlian, modified motorcycles—including models such as the Suzuki Thunder and Honda Tiger 2000—are observed queuing daily to purchase large quantities of fuel. These resellers typically transfer the fuel into jerry cans to be sold at retail prices of approximately Rp12,000 per liter.
Observers note that these resellers can be distinguished from regular commuters by their purchase volumes and behavior. While standard users typically purchase less than five liters, these modified motorcycles can carry up to 20 liters of fuel. Local reports indicate that station attendants continue to serve these modified vehicles despite the existing prohibitions.
