Palencia and Algeciras roll out multi‑million euro street‑asphalting plans

The city council of Palencia has awarded a contract to local firm Hormigones Sierra to carry out the 2026 road‑surfacing programme. The plan covers 51 streets and pathways, with an estimated cost of €479,810, representing a modest saving of about 0.25 % compared with previous contracts. Works are expected to begin after the council issues its final approval, with construction scheduled for the summer months to minimise traffic disruption.

In southwestern Spain, the Algeciras municipality announced a €6 million street‑asphalting initiative, the largest in the city's history. Mayor José Ignacio Landaluce and deputy mayor Yessica Rodríguez presented the project, which will upgrade streets across the north, centre and south of the city. The programme includes resurfacing, removal of architectural barriers, renewal of road markings and measures to reduce traffic impacts during the works.

Both projects aim to improve road safety, accessibility and overall mobility for residents while modernising municipal infrastructure.
