Palencia: IU demands rehabilitation of Canal de Castilla Dock warehouse

Izquierda Unida (IU) has filed a motion in the Palencia City Council to demand the recovery and rehabilitation of the second warehouse of the Canal de Castilla Dock. The facility is currently unused and in a state of deterioration.

While the first warehouse has been recently renovated to house the Water Museum, the second has remained inactive for years. Although a 39-year concession was granted in 2017 to transform the building into a cultural and environmental leisure center, the project has not materialized.

IU spokesperson Rodrigo San Martín has called for administrative actions to determine if the concessionaire has met its obligations. If non-compliance is confirmed, the party proposes terminating the concession so the City Council can reclaim the property and manage it as a public facility for the citizens of Palencia.
