Palermo announces Grandparents' Day event and cemetery maintenance schedule

The city of Palermo has announced several local events and administrative measures for late October. On October 18, the city will celebrate Grandparents' Day at Parco Piersanti Mattarella. The event, supported by the Municipality of Palermo, will feature activities for grandparents and grandchildren, including workshops, road safety education, and performances. The Carabinieri will provide information on preventing fraud against the elderly and demonstrate first aid techniques, while the ASP of Palermo will offer various health screenings, including mammographies, Pap tests, and pediatric vision and speech assessments.

In preparation for All Saints' Day and the Commemoration of the Dead, Palermo's municipal administration has scheduled temporary closures of city cemeteries for cleaning and maintenance. Cemeteries will be fully closed from Wednesday, October 28, to Friday, October 30. They will reopen on Saturday, October 31, with reduced hours from 08:00 to 13:30. On November 1 and 2, the cemeteries will remain open with continuous hours from 08:00 to 17:00.
