Palermo anti‑mafia raid targets Resuttana families, 13 suspects placed under precautionary measures

The Guardia di Finanza’s Special Valuation Police unit, acting on an order from the Palermo Tribunal and at the request of the District Antimafia Directorate, carried out a coordinated raid in Palermo. The operation focused on families of the Acquasanta and Arenella clans, both part of the Resuttana mandamento. Thirteen precautionary measures were imposed – eight custodial sentences and five house arrests – while a total of 45 people are under investigation for mafia association, fraud, bankruptcy, money‑laundering, illegal re‑investment of illicit funds and the operation of unlawful sports‑betting networks. Investigators, supported by provincial commands from Palermo and Naples, uncovered a system of clandestine betting points that processed cash bets, a web of front companies used to launder proceeds, and extensive financial‑patrimonial traces linking the clans to organized crime activities.

The raid is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle the economic base of Cosa Nostra in Sicily, following earlier seizures of assets and recent judicial reforms aimed at targeting the financial structures of mafia groups.
