Palermo City Council reviews Asacom regulation amendments

The Palermo City Council has reviewed proposed amendments to the Asacom regulation, which governs assistance for children with disabilities. The changes aim to resolve long-standing administrative and financial difficulties.

One major update involves a new payment system for Asacom assistants. Previously, payments were handled directly by school secretariats, leading to significant delays and difficulties in meeting evolving regulations. The new proposal, developed in collaboration with the Sispi and the General Accounting Office, establishes a bimonthly payment schedule to ensure more reliable compensation.

Additionally, the amendments propose a new method for recovering hours lost due to a child's absence. Instead of requiring recovery within the same week, the new rule would allow for recovery within the month, providing greater flexibility for the service.
