Palermo completes modern LED lighting for historic Villa Sperlinga

The municipality of Palermo has finished a public‑lighting renovation of the historic Villa Sperlinga garden. The project, driven by the city administration and carried out by AMG Energia S.p.A., cost more than €53,000.

The upgrade replaced 44 lighting fixtures with high‑efficiency LED units, restored two safety‑removed poles, regenerated 13 corroded supports, installed 15 new foundation blocks and rewired the system. New green lanterns were chosen to harmonise with the villa’s historic and landscape value. Mayor Roberto Lagalla and Public Works assessor Salvatore Orlando said the modern, sustainable lighting improves safety and quality of life for residents.

The works were approved by the Superintendency for Cultural Heritage and Environmental Assets, ensuring respect for the monument’s context.
