Palermo entrepreneur's assets seized over 2.6 million euro building bonus fraud

An entrepreneur in the province of Palermo has had assets worth 1.6 million euros seized following an investigation into fraudulent building bonuses. The Guardia di Finanza of Bagheria discovered that the individual, acting as a general contractor with the assistance of an architect, allegedly generated 2.6 million euros in false tax credits.

The investigation revealed that the entrepreneur falsely certified the completion of construction works for over 100 subjects, including condominiums and various properties in Bagheria and surrounding municipalities like Altavilla Milicia. The scheme involved claiming credits before legislative changes reduced the available percentages and using inflated estimates or invoices for work that was never actually performed.

Ordered by the Court of Auditors of the Sicilian Region at the request of the Regional Prosecutor's Office, the seizure includes vehicles, motorcycles, six properties, four plots of land, and ten luxury watches. The court's decision aligns with recent jurisprudence regarding the jurisdiction of accounting magistrates over the undue perception of building bonuses.
