Palermo extends special security measures for nightlife areas

Palermo Prefect Massimo Mariani has signed an extension of the special security measures, known as “red zones,” until April 23, 2027. These areas feature reinforced surveillance to combat illegal activities and violence in popular nightlife districts.

The ordinance, following a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, aims to prevent individuals previously reported for illegal or violent activities from disrupting public spaces. The designated zones include Teatro Massimo, Vucciria, Maqueda Stazione, and Piazza Nascè.

Specific areas under heightened vigilance include Piazza Verdi, portions of Via Maqueda, Via dell’Orologio, Piazza Olivella, Via Roma, and Via Cavour.
