Palermo FC faces squad limit as new signing Gabriel Strefezza arrives

Palermo Football Club has reached the maximum of 18 over‑age players in its squad after the arrival of Brazilian‑Italian forward Gabriel Strefezza. The club's sporting director Carlo Ostino must now free a roster slot before completing the search for a replacement for Joel Pohjanpalo.

The top candidate to fill the vice‑striker role is Antonio Di Nardo, a 1999‑born attacker from Pescara, with Catanzaro and Modena also mentioned as possible options. Potential departures to create space include Diakité, Gyasi and Le Douaron, while negotiations over striker Matteo Brunori remain uncertain.

Strefezza’s signing also carries a personal story: eleven years ago he was evaluated by Palermo but was not signed. After developing in the youth system of Corinthians, moving to SPAL, and playing for clubs such as Juventus Stabia, Cremonese, Lecce and others, he finally joins Palermo, bringing both technical ability and a Sicilian connection through his Italian grandparents.
