Palermo Futura movement launched to revitalize Sicilian capital

The political movement ‘Palermo Futura – Capitale del Mediterraneo’ has been officially presented in Palermo. Promoted by former regional deputy Totò Lentini and Unicoop Sicilia president Felice Coppolino, the initiative aims to create a civic project that transcends traditional center-right and center-left divisions.

Key priorities for the movement include financial recovery, urban regeneration, support for technological innovation and startups, and the development of a new leadership class. The movement is looking toward the 2027 administrative elections with the goal of restoring Palermo’s central role in the Mediterranean region.

Cateno De Luca, leader of Sud Chiama Nord, commented on the initiative, noting that the movement is building an agreement with the ‘Sindaci d’Italia’ movement. He stated that this represents a novelty in the national political landscape and aligns with current polling trends.
