Palermo gang violence leaves six injured in shootings and assaults

A series of violent incidents in Palermo, specifically between the Borgo Nuovo and Cep neighborhoods, has left six people injured. Investigators believe the shootings and beatings are part of a retaliatory conflict between rival factions.

The violence included several distinct episodes. Giovanni and Saverio Zinna, aged 32 and 52, were shot; the younger man was hospitalized in serious condition. In Borgo Nuovo, a group of at least six individuals physically assaulted a father and son, causing widespread injuries. Additionally, two other victims sought medical attention at a local hospital, one suffering from gunshot wounds and another having lost all teeth following a severe beating.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Carabinieri and police, are investigating the connections between these events to identify those responsible and prevent further escalation of tension between the two districts.
