Palermo hosts culinary masterclass in confiscated mafia property
A culinary masterclass focused on traditional Sicilian baking is being held in Palermo at a property confiscated from the mafia. Located in the Acquasanta district, the venue is managed by the Consorzio Network dei Talenti.
The three-day program, running from August 24 to 26, aims to provide technical and practical skills in preparing traditional items such as classic Sicilian focaccia, 'faccia di vecchia', and 'sfincione palermitano'. The initiative is designed to foster social inclusion and professional opportunities for vulnerable groups, specifically including individuals with disabilities and women victims of violence.
The event is part of a broader multidisciplinary network involving organizations such as Sport21 Odv and Millecolori, under integrated projects like C.E.I.A.M. and DEMETRA. The goal is to combine healthy nutrition promotion with social support and job placement through a local integrated network.
