Palermo hosts Madrèa cooperative festival to discuss sustainability and legality

The Madrèa – La cooperazione in festa event is returning to Palermo at Villa Filippina from September 10 to 13. Organized by Legacoop Sicilia, the four-day event focuses on four central themes: the future, community, legality, and sustainability.

The program aims to address practical economic and social challenges, including access to credit for growing cooperatives, combating organized crime and corruption, and creating professional opportunities to encourage young people to remain in Sicily. Discussions will also cover urban regeneration, climate adaptation, and the blue economy, specifically regarding Mediterranean coastal strategies, fishing, and aquaculture.

The event will feature a diverse range of participants, including magistrates, economists, administrators, and scholars. Notable speakers include Salerno Public Prosecutor Raffaele Cantone, magistrate Dino Petralia, and Vice President of the Chamber Giorgio Mulè.
