Palermo jewelry heist: two suspects placed under house arrest
A judge has ordered house arrest for two suspects, Samuele Tocco (23) and Cristian Mendola (24), following a robbery at the Bracco jewelry store on via Mariano Stabile in Palermo. The heist resulted in the theft of valuables worth approximately 600,000 euros.
Two other individuals, Stefano Vito Sciacca (27), an employee of the jewelry store, and Angelo Romano (49), a building doorman, were not subject to precautionary measures. During questioning, Sciacca denied being the person captured on surveillance footage, claiming he was at his girlfriend's home. Romano stated he does not know the suspects and explained his role involved cleaning and managing check-ins for a vacation home from which the thieves allegedly entered.
Investigators believe a third accomplice may still be unidentified, and efforts are ongoing to clarify the roles of the suspects and the exact dynamics of the robbery.
