Palermo launches TramPolo Urbano youth music project
The TramPolo Urbano project is launching in the Borgo Nuovo district of Palermo to engage youth aged 14 to 25 in Sicilian musical traditions. Promoted by the Glenn Gould Ets cultural association and funded by the Ministry of Culture, the initiative aims to help young people reinterpret the artistic heritage of Rosa Balistreri through workshops, training, and musical production.
The project is scheduled to run until February 2027. It will feature collaborations with local and national artists, including Dario Mangiaracina. The program begins on October 2 with a procession involving eight schools to mark the International Day of Non-Violence, featuring a 60-meter shroud bearing the names of over 18,000 children killed in Gaza as a symbol of peace.
