Palermo mechanic specialized in finding mafia wiretaps
In Palermo, a mechanic identified as Ignazio Testa specialized in detecting electronic listening devices (microspie) hidden in motorcycles used by organized crime members. According to testimony from collaborator Alessio D’Agostino, the mechanic’s services were sought by various criminals, including mafiosi, extortionists, and drug traffickers, to avoid interception by authorities.
D’Agostino noted that the mechanic’s expertise was demonstrated when he successfully located a bug inside a vehicle belonging to Carmelo Sacco, a high-ranking member of the Brancaccio mafia clan. Despite these efforts to evade surveillance, Sacco and his associates were arrested in April. The mechanic’s workshop in Piazza Scaffa reportedly saw frequent visits from local criminals seeking to secure their communications.
