Palermo police thwart attempted theft at San Tommaso d’Aquino church
Police in Palermo prevented an attempted theft at the San Tommaso d’Aquino church in the Uditore–Passo di Rigano district. Officers from the Zisa–Borgo Nuovo station and the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office responded to reports of an intrusion late at night.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered a broken window at the rectory. During a perimeter search, officers heard a noise and observed a hooded man attempting to climb a fence to escape. The suspect, a 57-year-old man with a prior criminal record, was intercepted by police. During his attempt to flee, he discarded a flashlight and a screwdriver. He has been formally reported to the authorities.
