Palermo province labor inspections suspend 4 sites, impose €30,000+ fines

Labor inspectors carried out a week‑long crackdown in the Palermo province between 9 June and 17 June 2024. The operation targeted construction sites in Bolognetta, San Giuseppe Jato and Terrasini, as well as a restaurant in Palermo. Inspectors found workers without proper contracts at each location and identified safety shortcomings such as unprotected scaffolding and open work‑area openings. All four activities were ordered to cease operations pending compliance.

The fines imposed totalled more than €30,000, with the highest penalty of €13,128.15 levied on the Palermo restaurant. Other penalties were €6,870.53 for Bolognetta, €4,450 for San Giuseppe Jato and €9,611.92 for Terrasini. The inspections underscore ongoing efforts to combat undeclared work and improve workplace safety in high‑risk sectors.
