Palermo school hosts Arena CEP outdoor cinema festival

outdoor cinema educational projects community engagement school festivals social inclusion

The Arena CEP outdoor film festival is returning to the courtyard of the Istituto Comprensivo Giuliana Saladino in Palermo. Scheduled for September 22, 23, and 24, the event features Italian comedies designed to address significant educational and social themes, including the migrant crisis, urban social relations, and regional stereotypes.

The program begins with a documentary titled ‘Sacco Matto’, produced by students regarding the Borgo Nuovo and Cep neighborhoods of Palermo. Subsequent screenings include ‘Tolo Tolo’ starring Checco Zalone, ‘Come un gatto in tangenziale’ featuring Antonio Albanese and Paola Cortellese, and ‘Benvenuti al Nord’ with Claudio Bisio and Alessandro Siani.

School director Giusto Catania noted that the festival serves as a way to build an educational alliance between the school and families. The project is funded by SIAE through the #PerChiCrea initiative, supported by the Ministry of Culture and various local associations.
