Palermo to conduct autopsy for farmer killed in grape harvester accident

An autopsy is scheduled at the Palermo Polyclinic for Stefano Palumbo, a 67-year-old farmer from Alcamo who died following a workplace accident. The incident occurred on September 6 in the countryside between Alcamo and Palermo, where Palumbo was crushed by a grape harvester.

Agricultural entrepreneur Massimo Lauria, the owner of the land where the harvest was taking place, remains in a pharmacological coma at the Palermo Civico hospital after attempting to free Palumbo from the machinery. Carabinieri have seized the harvester for technical inspections, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact dynamics of the accident, as there were no direct witnesses present at the time.
