Palestina, Caldas recovery efforts begin after August 10 earthquake

Following an earthquake on August 10, humanitarian and technical response efforts have been activated in the municipality of Palestina, Caldas. Preliminary reports indicated injuries, hundreds of affected individuals, and over one hundred homes with varying degrees of damage, alongside impacts on schools, churches, and health centers.

Aerocafé, in coordination with the Gobernación de Caldas and the local municipality, has mobilized aid, including the delivery of food markets and hygiene kits. Beyond immediate relief, technical teams are working to conduct structural diagnoses of damaged homes and manage debris removal.

The Federación Nacional de Cafeteros (FNC) has also committed to the reconstruction process. Drawing on institutional experience from previous seismic events, the FNC is organizing through its departmental committees to help rebuild rural infrastructure, including housing, roads, and productive assets, aiming to modernize the region's resilience.
