Palestine consumer price index rises 4.69% in September

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics reported a 4.69% increase in the consumer price index for Palestine in September 2026 compared to August 2026. This rise was driven by significant price hikes in the Gaza Strip, which saw an 11.36% increase, while the West Bank and Jerusalem experienced rises of 0.53% and 0.44%, respectively.

Key drivers for the overall increase included a 28.95% rise in imported cigarette prices, an 11.96% increase in white flour, and an 8.57% rise in fresh vegetables. Other notable increases were seen in education services, land passenger transport, and egg prices.

In the Gaza Strip, specific price increases were noted for items such as Royal cigarettes, white flour, salt, tea, and frozen veal. In the West Bank, the rise was attributed to higher costs for fresh vegetables, eggs, potatoes, and land passenger transport services.
