Palestine joins OIC preparatory meeting in Jeddah to discuss Jerusalem and Gaza

Palestine participated in a preparatory meeting for the 23rd extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The meeting included representatives from 45 member states.

The Palestinian delegation, led by Ambassador Hadi Shibli, discussed a draft resolution concerning Palestine and Jerusalem. Discussions focused on addressing challenges posed by settlement policies and the need to protect the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Ambassador Shibli emphasized the necessity of a full ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, transitioning to a permanent end to hostilities, and facilitating aid and reconstruction efforts. He also called for continued support for UNRWA and the activation of the Islamic financial safety net to support the Palestinian state. The draft resolution has been referred to the Council of Foreign Ministers for adoption.
