Palestine Strongman Championship held in Gaza City
The Palestine Strongman Championship took place in Gaza City on Friday, October 16, 2026. Athletes competed in various strength feats, including pulling trucks with ropes, flipping large tires, and lifting heavy barbells.
Organizer Waleed Owda noted that the event had been originally planned for 2021 but faced multiple postponements, including delays caused by the outbreak of war in 2023. Owda stated that previous sports activities and venues in Gaza had been destroyed, but the current championship was made possible through the help of sponsors.
Participants, such as Riyad Fattouh, described the event as a positive atmosphere following years of destruction, strikes, and hunger. Spectators, including women and children, watched the competition from the rubble of destroyed buildings.
