Palestine Workshop in Çorum hosts historical and awareness panels
In Çorum, Turkey, the ‘Palestine Workshop’ has organized various educational activities, including panels and reading groups, to raise awareness regarding the situation in Gaza and the historical context of Palestine. The initiative aims to foster understanding through documentaries, articles, and discussions involving people from diverse ideological backgrounds.
A recent panel titled ‘Looking at Palestine during the Era of Sultan Abdulhamid II through the Rothschilds’ featured Prof. Dr. Levent Küçük. He discussed the historical role of the Rothschild family in establishing early Jewish colonies in Palestine. According to Küçük, while the Ottoman Empire initially provided refuge to Jewish populations, the 1897 Basel Zionist Congress led to strategic shifts. He noted that Edmond James de Rothschild utilized a ‘silent seizure’ strategy, investing in agriculture, energy, and education to build the infrastructure for a Jewish homeland in the region.
