Palestinian Ambassador visits Tripoli officials to discuss refugee rights
Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon, Dr. Mohammad al-Asaad, conducted a series of meetings in Tripoli to discuss the socio-economic conditions of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and the ongoing situation in the Palestinian territories.
During a meeting with Acting North Governor Iman al-Rafai, al-Asaad highlighted the severe living challenges faced by refugees in camps due to economic instability. He also addressed the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
In subsequent meetings with Tripoli's Mufti, Sheikh Mohammad Imam, and Mayor Dr. Abdel Hamid Karimeh, the Ambassador reaffirmed the Palestinian leadership's commitment to Lebanese sovereignty and stability. He emphasized the Palestinian right of return and rejected any permanent settlement (tawtin) of refugees. The discussions also focused on the necessity of international funding for UNRWA to ensure continued services for refugees and the importance of granting refugees the right to work to alleviate their suffering.
