Palestinian and EU officials discuss West Bank and Gaza crises

Palestinian leadership and European Union officials are addressing the escalating humanitarian and security crises in Gaza and the West Bank. Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh met with Christophe Bigot, the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, in Ramallah to discuss several critical issues.

The discussions focused on increasing Israeli violence and settler activity in the West Bank, ongoing military operations in the Gaza Strip, and the necessity of reconstruction efforts. Al-Sheikh highlighted the targeting of UNRWA centers and staff in the West Bank and East Jerusalem as a significant threat to stability. He called for a more effective international stance to stop attacks and ensure perpetrators are held accountable.

Additionally, the meetings addressed preparations for upcoming Palestinian elections, emphasizing the need for political and legal conditions that allow citizens to exercise their rights. Separately, Dr. Musa Akkari, Head of the Palestinian Diplomacy Center, noted the deepening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the ongoing resistance against occupation, stating that the Palestinian people remain committed to their land despite continuous displacement and conflict.
