Palestinian artists and students find support and expression in Italy
Palestinian students and artists are finding avenues for expression and support in Italy amidst the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
In Rome, the short film ‘Sarkha’ by Jumana Dabis will be screened at the Teatro Biblioteca Quarticciolo. The film serves as an abstract journey exploring the experiences of Palestinian women and children, aiming to provide a voice for those facing destruction and seeking to reaffirm a unified identity through art. The screening will include a dialogue regarding cultural resistance and the relationship between central and peripheral territories.
In Palermo, humanitarian initiatives are assisting Palestinian youth who have escaped the conflict. The ‘Fiori dai Cannoni’ project, promoted by Another Coffee Stories, provides concrete support for students from Gaza who have secured scholarships at Italian universities. The program assists with the transition from Gaza to Italy, offering help with housing, daily necessities, and social integration to help students build a future through education.
