Palestinian Cabinet approves teacher appointments and Gaza emergency measures

The Palestinian Cabinet met on Tuesday to approve several administrative and humanitarian measures. Key decisions include the completion of appointment procedures for 1,476 teachers and administrators in West Bank schools, including those in Jerusalem. In the Gaza Strip, the Cabinet approved additional operational contracts for waste removal at shelter centers, network maintenance, and road clearing. Preparations are also underway for the upcoming school year in Gaza, which aims to serve approximately 500,000 students across 700 educational sites.

Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa directed the organization of emergency response efforts to accelerate the meeting of urgent needs in targeted areas, emphasizing coordination with international partners. The Cabinet called on the international community to take urgent action regarding Israeli threats against Palestinian institutions and leadership, specifically citing threats of a ‘total war’ by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.

The Cabinet warned of escalating violence from settler groups, noting that over 395 attacks occurred in the past week alone, resulting in seven deaths. Additionally, they reported that Israeli forces intensified demolition operations, affecting more than 42 Palestinian homes and facilities. The Cabinet urged international organizations to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza and the West Bank to mitigate the worsening conditions for displaced populations.
