Palestinian child Sıla Ebu Kerim receives medical treatment in Turkey

Six-year-old Palestinian girl Sıla Ebu Kerim is receiving medical treatment at Adana City Hospital in Turkey after being injured by shrapnel during an Israeli attack on the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.

The injury to her spine has affected her ability to sit upright and has weakened her walking functions. Neurosurgeon Associate Professor Dr. Semih Kıvanç Olguner stated that the treatment will involve a complex three-hour spinal stabilization surgery using platinum hardware, followed by intensive care or ward observation and subsequent physical therapy.

Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have been closely monitoring the case. Sıla’s mother, Nur Khsmıs Ali Banat, expressed gratitude to Turkey for providing the medical assistance that was unavailable in Gaza.
