Palestinian Church Committee condemns West Bank home demolitions
The Palestinian Presidential Committee for Church Affairs has issued a strong condemnation regarding the demolition of property and forced displacement of Christian families in the West Bank.
In the Birzeit area, Israeli forces reportedly demolished a home and bulldozed agricultural land belonging to the Christian Abed family. Additionally, in the town of Al-Taybah east of Ramallah, the family of Bashir Naeem Kona was forced to evacuate their home following threats and continuous attacks by settlers. The Committee noted that the Kona family had occupied their newly constructed home for only one week before being compelled to leave.
The Committee described these actions as a systematic policy intended to seize land and homes, asserting that such measures violate international law and threaten the rooted Christian presence in the region. They called upon the international community to fulfill its legal and political responsibilities to hold those responsible accountable and halt the ongoing pattern of demolitions and forced displacement across the West Bank and Gaza.
