Palestinian detainees and bodies held in Israeli custody
Raed Abu al-Hummus, head of the Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Commission, reported that 4,769 young Palestinians, aged 18 to 40, are currently detained in Israeli prisons. This figure includes 4,713 males and 56 females. Abu al-Hummus noted that since October 2023, 91 Palestinian prisoners have died in custody, with 41 being youth; the bodies of 40 of these individuals remain held by Israeli authorities.
In a separate development, reports from Haaretz indicate that Israeli security officials, including Shin Bet head David Zini, are holding approximately 1,700 Palestinian bodies. These are reportedly being kept as leverage for potential future prisoner exchange negotiations. Some reports suggest around 1,500 of these bodies are located at the Sde Teiman military facility.
Additionally, the Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Commission stated that Israeli authorities have issued or renewed administrative detention orders for 80 detainees.
