Palestinian displacement impacts education in Sinai and olive harvests in West Bank

In Arish, North Sinai, Palestinian teacher Hadeel Za‘rab has established a school to provide education for children displaced from the Gaza Strip. Originally a small initiative for a few students, the school has grown to serve approximately 400 students aged 6 to 18. The facility, which is the only Palestinian school in the region, receives financial support from the Egypt Charity Foundation to cover rent and educational supplies.

Meanwhile, in the West Bank, the annual olive harvest has commenced amid significant tension and violence. The olive sector contributes approximately $170 million annually to the Palestinian economy, supporting at least 100,000 families. However, reports indicate that Israeli military restrictions and settler actions have hindered access to agricultural lands. In 2025 alone, the Palestinian economy reportedly faced a $46 million loss due to these harvest restrictions.
