Palestinian families face displacement in northern Jordan Valley

Approximately 47 Palestinian families, comprising over 300 individuals including nearly half children, face imminent displacement from the northern Jordan Valley. Human rights organizations, including B'Tselem, report that Israeli forces and settlers have destroyed critical water infrastructure, including pipes and networks, in communities such as Ras al-Ahmar, Al-Thala, and east of Atuf.

This disruption of water access coincides with the construction of a new 22-kilometer separation wall known as the ‘Crimson Thread’. The wall, stretching from Ain Shibli to the Tayasir checkpoint, is expected to isolate residents from their lands and facilitate the seizure of approximately 50,000 dunams of agricultural land, pastures, and orchards.

Since excavation began in March, reports indicate extensive damage to the local economy, including the uprooting of olive trees and the destruction of greenhouses and irrigation lines. Residents also face frequent settler attacks, including road closures and threats intended to force farmers and herders to abandon their livelihoods.
