Palestinian female detainees face systematic abuse at Damun Prison

The Palestine Prisoners Studies Center has reported systematic repression and organized violations against Palestinian female detainees at Damun Prison. According to the center, these actions are not isolated incidents by prison staff but represent a coordinated campaign supported and incited by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

The reports describe frequent raids occurring three to four times per week, during which detainees are reportedly handcuffed, blindfolded, and forced into humiliating positions. During these operations, prison authorities allegedly confiscate and destroy personal belongings, bedding, and food supplies. The center noted that following recent visits by Ben-Gvir, detainees were subjected to punitive measures, including being stripped of all belongings for three consecutive days and being denied access to showers or outdoor areas.

Approximately 88 Palestinian women are currently held in Israeli prisons, many under harsh and inhumane conditions. The center highlighted critical issues such as food shortages, a policy of starvation, and medical neglect, which has led to the spread of diseases among detainees, including those suffering from cancer and hepatitis. Additionally, the report cited an increase in solitary confinement, specifically mentioning administrative detainee and writer Lama Khater and two minors held in isolation.
