Palestinian film series scheduled in Polignano a Mare

A series of Palestinian film screenings, titled ‘ergo SUMUD’, will take place in Polignano a Mare, Italy, organized by the Alma Terra Association in collaboration with the Palestinian Community of Puglia and Basilicata. The program, running from September 15 to October 6, features works exploring memory, resistance, and daily life under occupation.

Key events include a tribute to the late director Mohammad Bakri on September 22, featuring a remote appearance by his son, actor Saleh Bakri. The lineup also includes the film ‘Palestina 36’ by Annemarie Jacir, which depicts the 1936 Arab revolt during the British Mandate. The film, which features international actors such as Jeremy Irons and Liam Cunningham, was filmed in Palestine and Jordan and explores the historical roots of regional conflict.

Other scheduled screenings include ‘Aisha’s Story’ by Elisabeth Viberti, ‘Upshot’ by Maha Haj, and ‘The Teacher’ by Farah Nabalsi. The initiative is supported by the Bari Chamber of Commerce.
