Palestinian Government warns of displacement and food insecurity
The Palestinian government has issued warnings regarding escalating Israeli actions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. In Hebron, authorities report forced evictions of hundreds of residents, the demolition of residential and commercial buildings, and widespread arrests. Since the beginning of 2025, more than 40,000 Palestinians have reportedly been forced to leave their homes in cities and camps across the northern West Bank.
In the Gaza Strip, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem warned of a renewed famine crisis due to ongoing restrictions on food and humanitarian aid. Despite a ceasefire agreement entering into effect in October 2025, Qasem stated that humanitarian conditions remain dire because Israel has failed to fulfill its obligations to facilitate the entry of commercial goods and essential supplies.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated he is working with other nations to facilitate the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, suggesting there are early indications of countries that may receive them.
