Palestine marks 109th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration
Various Palestinian political factions and organizations marked the 109th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration on November 2. The statements collectively characterized the 1917 British document as a historical injustice that paved the way for Zionist settlement and the displacement of the Palestinian people.
Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine issued statements condemning the declaration as a colonial sin that continues to impact the region. They linked the historical document to current military actions, displacement, and humanitarian crises in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
Other groups, including the Arab Liberation Front and the Palestinian Gathering for the Homeland and Diaspora, emphasized that historical rights and the right of return cannot be extinguished by the passage of time. These organizations called on the international community, particularly Islamic nations, to move beyond verbal condemnations and take concrete political and economic action to support Palestinian rights and end the ongoing occupation.
