Palestinian Journalist Ahmad al‑Najar Shares Gaza War Experiences
Ahmad al‑Najar, a Palestinian reporter for the PSTV network, grew up in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. After studying English literature and teaching at a university, the 2023 Gaza war forced him to abandon his academic career and become a frontline journalist. He now documents the daily devastation, siege and suffering of Gaza’s residents, using his language skills to convey their stories to an international audience. Al‑Najar recounts harrowing scenes, such as a pregnant woman killed in an Israeli airstrike whose unborn child was ejected by the blast, underscoring the constant danger even during declared ceasefires. He describes how the sound of Israeli warplanes remains a backdrop to his reporting, and how journalists themselves are exposed to the same trauma as rescue workers. His testimony highlights the personal cost of covering the conflict and the commitment to bring the voices of Gaza’s people to the world.
