Palestinian journalist Mohammad Awad arrested in West Bank

Israeli forces arrested Palestinian freelance journalist Mohammad Awad from his home in Bitunya, near Ramallah, in the West Bank. Awad, a video journalist and former detainee, is known for documenting field events including military raids and settler attacks.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club reported that Awad’s arrest brings the total number of Palestinian journalists currently held in Israeli prisons to approximately 40, including five women. The organization noted that since the start of the conflict in Gaza in October 2023, more than 250 journalists have been arrested or detained.

According to the Club, 19 journalists are currently held under administrative detention without charge or trial. The organization also stated that over 260 journalists have been killed since the conflict began, and accused authorities of targeting media workers to prevent the documentation of violations.
