Palestinian leadership demands release of withheld tax revenues

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has called for the release of tax revenues that have been withheld for over 16 months. During a meeting with a German parliamentary delegation, Mustafa emphasized the need for increased international pressure to implement recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip and to halt Israeli measures in the West Bank.

Mustafa warned of catastrophic conditions in Gaza, citing obstacles to relief operations and shortages of medical supplies, fuel, and food. He urged the international community to prevent the suffering of the Palestinian people from being used as political leverage.

In a related development, Palestinian Land Authority Minister Alaa al-Tamimi stated that protecting property rights in Gaza is a top priority for the government. He confirmed that the authority maintains updated electronic databases of all land and property ownership in the Gaza Strip. Al-Tamimi noted that field committees are currently working within the territory to support relief efforts by identifying suitable land for shelter centers and providing geospatial data to international agencies.
