Palestinian Ministry and UN Rapporteur Urge Global Action on Israel

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that on Sunday it sent an urgent memorandum through its embassies and diplomatic missions to governments worldwide, urging immediate international action to halt the escalation of Israeli forces and settler attacks on occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. The ministry described the attacks as part of a systematic Israeli policy that provides political and military protection to settlers, enabling settlement expansion, forced displacement of Palestinians, annexation plans and ethnic cleansing.

United Nations Special Rapporteur for Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese reiterated the call, urging states to cease all trade with Israel and impose an arms embargo. She said, “It is never too late to stop it. Immediately stop trade with Israel. Immediately impose an arms embargo.” Her statement followed remarks by former Israeli ambassador Élie Barnavi, who warned that some members of the Israeli government advocate genocide.

Both the Palestinian ministry and the UN rapporteur are pressing for coordinated diplomatic pressure and sanctions to curb the violence and alleged war crimes in the region.
