Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture announces 2026 olive harvest schedule

The Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture has announced the official schedule for the 2026 olive harvesting season and the operation of olive presses. Based on technical field studies, the ministry set the start date for harvesting Nabali Baladi olives for October 15, 2026. Harvesting for improved Nabali and irrigated varieties intended for oil production is scheduled to begin on November 5, 2026.

Additionally, the ministry designated September 20, 2026, as the start date for harvesting olives intended for pickling. Olive presses are permitted to open starting October 11, 2026, for maintenance, preparation, and technical testing, though actual crop reception will follow the specific harvesting dates.

Initial production estimates suggest a total output of approximately 21,000 tons of olive oil. The ministry expects this volume to meet domestic consumption needs, estimated between 15,000 and 15,500 tons, while allowing for 4,000 tons for export and potential supply to the Gaza Strip. To manage the season, the ministry is adopting a decentralized approach by forming local committees in villages and towns to organize efforts and support farmers.
