Palestinian Ministry of Education expands vocational training infrastructure

The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced a significant expansion of its vocational education sector over the past 30 months. As part of the ‘Education for Development’ plan, the ministry has opened five new vocational schools, established 23 vocational units, and equipped 121 specialized workshops.

This initiative aims to align educational paths with labor market demands and combat unemployment. The expansion includes new specializations in various governorates, such as Jerusalem, Qalqilya, and Yatta. Programs range from renewable energy, sound technology, and electrical work to automotive maintenance, graphic design, and construction.

Spokesperson Sadiq al-Khaddour noted high demand for these programs, citing instances where applications for vocational schools in Hebron, Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nablus far exceed their capacity. This surge in interest has prompted the ministry to convert several academic schools into vocational institutions to better serve student needs.
