Palestinian Presidency seeks urgent UN Security Council session over settler violence

The Palestinian Presidency has called for an urgent session of the UN Security Council to demand international protection for Palestinians following an escalation in settler violence and Israeli military operations. Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeine reported 19 settler attacks on a single Friday, targeting farmers and olive harvesters through the destruction of trees, vehicles, and livestock.

Simultaneously, the Fatah Central Committee met to discuss the security and economic situation in the West Bank and Gaza. The committee addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the ongoing violations of ceasefire agreements. Fatah also emphasized the importance of Palestinian national unity and ongoing dialogue with factions including Hamas, the PFLP, and Islamic Jihad, under the auspices of Egyptian mediation to achieve a unified political vision and statehood through democratic elections.
