Palestinian Prisoners Club accuses Israel of field executions

The Palestinian Prisoners Club has accused Israeli forces of turning arrest operations in the West Bank into “field executions.” This statement follows the death of 54-year-old Ziad Mohammed Jaber, who was shot by the Israeli army during a raid on his home in the Um al-Sharayit area of Al-Bireh.

The Club reported that at least 30 Palestinians were detained across various West Bank governorates between Monday evening and Tuesday morning. They noted that Jaber’s death is part of an escalating pattern of killings during arrest raids, citing a similar incident less than a month ago in Jenin involving Fathi Khazem.

According to the Club, documented evidence suggests that Israeli forces are carrying out field executions during or after arrests, noting physical signs such as restraint marks on the limbs of deceased individuals. The organization also accused the Israeli authorities of attempting to “legitimize killing” through legislation, specifically referencing a law passed by the Knesset in March regarding the execution of Palestinian prisoners. The Club has called on the United Nations and the international human rights community to hold those responsible accountable.
