Palestinian Prisoners Club demands accountability for Ahmed al-Maghrabi

The Palestinian Prisoners Club has held Israeli authorities responsible for the fate of Ahmed al-Maghrabi, a 50-year-old prisoner who has been under investigation for over two months without access to legal counsel. Al-Maghrabi, who has been detained since 2002 and is serving 18 life sentences, recently saw Israeli forces raid his family home in Bethlehem.

The club reported that al-Maghrabi’s son, Mahmoud, was also detained on September 17 following a home search. The organization noted that al-Maghrabi has spent approximately 11 years in solitary confinement and that his family has faced repeated harassment and arrests during his long-term detention.

In a related development, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has renewed calls for access to Palestinian detainees in Israeli detention centers. The ICRC also facilitated the transfer of 16 Palestinian detainees released by Israeli authorities from the Kerem Shalom crossing to Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis.
