Palestinian Prisoner’s Society reports repression in Israeli prisons

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) has reported dozens of repressive raids and acts of violence against Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons since October 7. According to testimonies collected by the organization, these actions include the use of rubber-coated bullets, tear gas, pepper spray, and stun grenades, which have resulted in physical injuries and burns.

Reports highlight systematic repression, including the denial of healthcare, food restrictions, and psychological subjugation. At Damon Prison, female detainees reportedly endured multiple raids on October 7, involving room searches and the use of tear gas that caused suffocation. Detainees stated they were handcuffed, insulted, and forced to lie face down while being filmed by officers.

Additional incidents include the isolation of 15 women following a dispute over hair styling, and further assaults on October 8 involving the Yamaz unit. The PPS claims these patterns of violence and humiliation have been part of a systematic effort against detainees for the past three years.
